This post is written as part of our series The Chalkboard Remembers, where we're taking time to reflect on some of our favorite episodes in the history of The Chalkboard Podcast. This post is about Big Facts.
There are moments in life that are just too perfect not to acknowledge. When Micah and I were covering Middle of the Map we had one of those moments. When Ro Ransom took the stage at The Crossroads in Kansas City, Missouri, and started his performance we were basically glued in. Micah, myself, and our friend Isaac went through an array of feelings while listening to Ro. Some of his lyrics were over the top and crazy and others were so interesting that they made you take note. The things that stuck out the most about his performance were the fact that he was wearing a WWE Hardy Boyz shirt, and more notably, that he was clearly in love with Rashida Jones. He mentioned her several times through a few different songs and it became clear that the man was in love. It also became clear that the three of us were in love too.
We did a quick Instagram as story featuring Micah holding a Googled image of Rashida Jones with Ro Ransom performing in the background. I kind of thought it would be one of those things that Micah and I found funny and would stay an inside joke for a few years. So, imagine my surprise when I got out of a movie the following day and saw a notification from Ro Ransom via Instagram. The response simply said: “BIG FACTS”.
Amazing. I immediately texted Micah and Isaac and Big Facts was cemented in The Chalkboard’s history.
I was so exited when we got to do a whole episode dedicated to Big Facts. We had gotten so much feedback from friends and listeners that it just seemed like we needed to make it a thing. I can’t help but think there are more to come….
