I listen to the radio a lot since my 2005 Camry doesn't have an aux cord, and 90.9 The Bridge is my go-to station in Kansas City.
The Bridge folks do a great job supporting arts in Kansas City and play solid tunes all day long.
One of their dope features are these 909 Sessions where they do audio/video interviews with artists that come in town and have them play a few songs.
I love performances that take a musician out of their normal realm and asks them to play in a different setting, a la NPR Tiny Desk Concerts. The Bridge has some great sessions, so I compiled a list of 6 of my favorites.
Kacey Musgraves - "Late to the Party"
All Kacey Musgraves everything.
Anderson East - "Devil in Me"
Eric and I saw Anderson East when he played The Riot Room in Kansas City with Rayland Baxter. "Devil in Me" is a killer song about love, passion, and tension.
The Blackbird Revue - "The Devil's Hand'
The Blackbird Revue is a dope husband and wife duo from Kansas City, and this performance is hauntingly awesome.
Josh Ritter - "Getting Ready to Get Down"
I JUST LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH.
Corrine Bailey Rae - "Put Your Records On"
I ALSO LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH AND CAN'T BELIEVE THE BRIDGE GOT THIS ONE.
Ben Folds - "Phone in a Pool"
"Drink it fast or drink it slow
That's what I know
When you've gotten to the bottom of it
It's time to go."
